| If I truly trust Jesus Christ and endeavour to walk in all good conscience before him, then—without extraordinary revelation— I can really be sure that I am in the state of grace and will persevere in it to salvation. This assurance comes through faith resting on the truth of God’s promises, and by the Holy Spirit enabling me to discern in myself those graces to which God makes the promises of life, and bearing witness with my spirit that I am a child of God. |
